Judy’s Dressing is the epitome of a classic sausage dressing, embodying the warmth and comfort of holiday gatherings. This traditional recipe, featuring savory sausage and aromatic herbs, is a timeless favorite that will have everyone coming back for seconds. It’s super easy since the herbs come from the packaged (pre-seasoned) bread crumbs.

Ingredients:

  • Pepperidge Farm Stuffing Crumbs
  • 8 slices of bread, dried
  • 4-5 cornbread muffins
  • 1/2 lb. sausage
  • 3 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 onion , diced
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) chicken broth
  • butter flavored water (melt a stick of butter in a medium saucepan of water)

Directions:

  1. Combine breads.  Tearing bread slices and muffins into chunks; you may also use day-old biscuits.
  2. Brown and crumble sausage.  Sauté onion and celery in sausage drippings.  Add to bread mixture.
  3. Add beaten eggs to bread mixture.  Gradually add liquids, starting with the chicken broth.  Add as much butter flavored water as necessary.  While you want your stuffing to be moist, you don’t want it too soupy.  Add sausage.  Mix.
  4. Spray a casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.  Put stuffing into casserole dish.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for one hour.
