Ingredients:
- 6 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups grits
- pinch of salt
- 4 cups grated cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/2 cups butter or margarine
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
- Cook grits in water with a pinch of salt according to package directions; remove from heat and add 2 cups cheese and butter to the grits. Let cool for a few minutes.
- Add some of the warm grits to the beaten eggs, stir, adding garlic powder.
- Add egg mixture to the grits. Pour into a lightly greased 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining 2 c. cheese on top. Return to oven for 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
