Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Italian turkey sausage
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped (or 3 teaspoons dried basil)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley)
  • 30 large fresh Champignon mushrooms (white mushrooms), stems removed
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. In a large skillet, cook sausage, garlic, and onion over medium heat, breaking up sausage into crumbles. Cook until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender, about 6-8 minutes; drain.
  3. Add cream cheese and Parmesan cheese; cook and stir until melted. Stir in bread crumbs, basil, and parsley.
  4. Meanwhile, place mushroom caps bottom side up on a greased, rimmed metal baking sheet. Brush mushrooms with melted butter. Spoon sausage mixture into mushroom caps.
  5. Bake, uncovered, until mushrooms are tender, 12-15 minutes.
