Are you itching for warmer, longer days and yearning for the smell of spring flowers and fresh-cut grass? Sounds like it might be time for a spring fling! Invite over a few of your closest friends to say goodbye to winter and “HELLO!” to spring. Since the days may not be long enough to enjoy the sunshine at dinnertime yet, invite friends over for a weekend lunch and set up a table outside. Serve a menu that will remind guests of the rejuvenation of springtime and decorate with plenty of bright spring flowers.

Hostess Tips:

  • Pick up some seasonal fresh flowers to make several bouquets for around the house like on the dining table, in the kitchen, and in the living room (or where ever you will sit and visit after the meal).
  • If you are planning to do any spring yard work—such as starting your garden or planting your spring annuals—in the next week or so, go ahead and buy your plants now, and use them for decorations. Just set them in some of your decorative pots and after your event, you are ready to plant them! Ideas might include pansies, snapdragons, dianthus, alyssum, dusty miller, viola, and flowering cabbage.
  • If planning your event outside, be mindful of the weather and ready to retreat to a backup plan – you know what they say about April showers…
